‘Love Your Creative Space’ is the new book by Lilo Bowman. Subtitled, ‘A visual guide to creating an inspiring and organized studio without breaking the bank.’ Well, need I say more? Whether you’re just a beader, or into multiple crafts, this is a great book to read. So, let me share why you should invest in a copy…
What do you get in this book?
The short answer is: everything you could possibly want, or need, to organise your craft space.
The book is divided into three sections. In the first, Lilo talks about storage ideas for different crafting materials and tools. So, this covers everything from beads to fabric, to art materials, and more. Basically, whatever kind of crafting you enjoy, Lilo has storage space suggestions. She has also devoted a section to ideas for storage while travelling with your craft kit.
Now, given that this is a pretty wide range of items to cover, she doesn’t necessarily go into specific brands or items. The book has included a wealth of photos. So, you will see images of some specific storage solutions.
But the real help comes from the discussion around how and why you should consider storing items in particular ways. The book is full of little ‘pull out’ blocks with questions to ask yourself. These will guide you to the best storage solutions for your needs and your space.

Part three looks at practicalities and systems. So, for example, have you factored in space for accommodating your UFOs and WIPs? Do you want to – could you – display finished items for inspiration?
Then, in the final section, we have a beautiful gallery. This gives you a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the work-space of leading designers. (And be prepared for a little envy to creep in as you drool over these pages…)
Why do you need to love your creative space?
Well, it’s pretty hard to produce lovely work if you’re surrounded by chaos, or uninspiring views. Not all of us are fortunate enough to have a full room in which to craft. But with the aid of the ideas in this book, you can turn even a small corner of a room into something practical and inspiring.
And, since Lilo is simply guiding you through, you get to decide how much you spend on all of this. You could invest a fortune in fancy storage and decorations. But you really don’t have to. You can achieve great results by re-purposing household items, or gathering bits and pieces from thrift or charity stores.
