So, what are we talking about here?

You are hopefully familiar with the idea of a loom? This is a tool that has been used for centuries to weave materials into a fabric.

Traditionally, we might think of a loom for making silk, or cotton, or something similar. So, did you know that you can also make a beaded fabric on a loom?

Well, yes you can! You might be wondering what you would do with a beaded fabric. Well, as you set up the loom, you will be setting up the width of your fabric. So, you can use this to create jewellery, like a bracelet.

The length of work you create can also enable you to make necklaces, earrings or pendants. Plus, you can use techniques for shaping, so you’re not restricted to just making square or rectangular pieces of beadwork.

Aside from jewellery, bead loom weaving is also commonly used to create pictures. Imagine a beaded fabric that you can frame and hang in your home…
